Residents of AlHusainiya Camp for Palestinian refugees, in Rif Dimashq, have sounded distress signals over the bread crisis in the area due to new distribution mechanisms implemented by the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade in Syria.
A number of residents told AGPS that dozens of civilians continue to line up on a quasi-daily basis in long queues and in cold weather outside of local bakeries. Bread packs have been secretly sold on the black market at three times their real price.
A two-family member receives only two bread packs every three days, forcing civilians to purchase them from the black market at 1,500 Syrian pounds a pack.
