The death toll of torture victims of Palestinian refugees in the Syrian prisons, which is documented by the AGPS, rose to (445) victims since the beginning of the war in Syria. The AGPS documented (4) refugees who died since the beginning of this month, in addition to (17) refugees who died since the beginning of 2016. Meanwhile, (77) victims were recognized through the leaked images of the victims of torture.
Dozens of refugees died due to torture, while the Syrian security delivered their ID papers to their families who refuse to disclose their children's names for maintaining their residence within the regime controlled areas, and fearing the wrath of the Syrian security forces. Some released detainees confirmed the death of some Palestinian refugees without disclosing their names.
The AGPS documented (1077) Palestinian refugees who are detained in the Syrian prisons, including 61 women who are unaccounted for. Children, women, elderly, brothers, fathers, sons, entire families, and babies are detained in the prisons of the Syrian regime. According to the testimonies of some released detainees, the Palestinian refugees in the Syrian security branches are exposed to all forms of torture and humiliation, from beatings and electric shocks and rape.
The AGPS called for the release of the Palestinian refugees who are detained in the regime's prisons and to reveal their fate, believing that what is happening in Syrian prisons is considered as a crime by all standards.
