AGPS raised alarm bells over the intense economic crises endured by hundreds of displaced Palestinian families who moved to the eastern Damascus areas of Al-Dukhaniya, Al-Qabas, and Dweila’a, fleeing unbroken shelling and the blockade in their refugee camps.
High rates of unemployment, poverty, and homelessness, along with the dramatic increase in rental fees, have made life unbearable in those areas.
The displaced Palestinian refugees appealed to the UNRWA, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), and the Palestinian factions to take up their responsibilities vis-à-vis the crisis and work on securing a safe access into their places of residence, including Al-Sbiena and Yarmouk camps.
