AGPS on-the-spot reporter said Palestinian refugees in southern Syria have been enduring abject humanitarian conditions. Residents of Daraa Camp have also sounded distress signals over the quasi-permanent cuts of power, water, and telecommunications in the area.
The situation has taken a turn for the worse due to the dramatic price leap and steep rental fees, along with the acute shortage in foodstuff, fuel, and children’s milk.
The area has also been devoid of clinics and hospitals, except for a handful of under-equipped emergency centers.
Activists attributed the health crisis to the tough cordons imposed by the Syrian government forces on the main access roads out of and into the area, along with the UNRWA’s dragging of its feet vis-à-vis the appeals frequently launched by the Palestinian refugee community in southern Syria.
