Students of Al-Jarmak alternative school in the town of Yelda, south of Damascus, organized a protest, to demand their right for education, as well as their besieged friends from Yarmouk camp’s rights which have been prevented from learning due to the closure of the camp’s crossing. They also urged that the humanitarian files not be linked to the military files.
During the protest, which included the teaching staff, the students raised slogans and gestures that asserted on their right to education without horror or fear. The banners also expressed the importance of education to children, with one slogan reading: “We don’t want food or food baskets from you, leave us to learn.”
