Syrian security forcibly hides Doctor “Hayel Hamid” for the sixth year

The Syrian security forces continue to detain Doctor “Hayel Hamid” for the sixth year, after he was kidnapped on 13/8/2012 from his clinic in Yarmouk Street, in Yarmouk camp, south of Damascus, for the treatment and assistance of the wounded.

Since then, his location and fate remain unknown. Doctor “Hayel Hamid” was born in the Palestinian village of Dallata, in 1948. He was a professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Damascus, and served as Head of the General Surgery Department at Al Asad Hospital.

The staff and medical institutions in Yarmouk camp, was and is still being exposed to serious violations by the Syrian army and security, during the bombardment of hospitals and the targeting of ambulances at times, as well as arresting the medical staff at other times. Dozens of paramedics, nurses and medical specialists have died as a result of these violations.
