A number of Palestinian refugee families have been forcibly displaced from the eastern Ghouta area in the suburbs of Damascus, to the north of Syria, because of the unprecedented shelling and brutality. The civilian neighborhoods of Al-Ghouta were bombarded with rockets and explosive barrels, resulting in hundreds of casualties and injuries.
This comes amid an extreme siege imposed by the Syrian regime on the Ghouta neighborhoods since 2013, which has aggravated the tragedy, especially on the medical side where most of the hospitals and medical centers are suffering of a lack of most of the basic medical supplies.
Approximately 250 Palestinian-Syrian families are living in the towns of Ghouta, in addition to thousands of Syrian families. The Palestinian families are dispersed across the towns of; Duma, Zamalka, Hezzeh and Homoreyya, and several other towns that have not been spared from the heavy shelling.
