Damas Built Around Muhamadiya Camp to Protect Children Demolished

An AGPS reporter said Syrian opposition outfits and Turkish troops moved into AlMuhamadiya Camp, in Deir Ballout, north of Syria, on Wednesday morning to knock down makeshift structures set up by the displaced families around their tents so as to protect their children during winter.

The residents expressed their deep disappointment over the measure, which they said has come at a time when civilians have been grappling with dire conditions in the area.

A delegation of Deir Ballout committee reached out to the opposition outfits and Turkish authorities in order to urge them to backtrack on the move and refrain from demolishing the dams set up by the residents to protect their children against water floods expected to swap their tents with the advent of winter.

However, both parties reportedly told the delegation that the demolition will also target barriers built around Deir Ballout Camp.

The displaced Palestinian and Syrian families appealed to the Turkish authorities and human rights organizations to take urgent measures in order to protect their children from rain floods and freezing temperatures and to supply them with much needed heating kit, fuel, and foodstuff.

Families who have been forcibly deported to northern Syria have been enduring abject living conditions and crammed into poorly-equipped tents.
