Palestinian refugee Mohamed Anis Badwan, called Abu Omar, was killed under torture in Syria’s state-run Sednaya military prison, in Rif Dimashq, after he had been kept in jail for over four years, according to his family.
The casualty, aged 56 and the father of four sons and daughters, was kidnapped by Syrian government forces on his way out of the besieged Yarmouk Camp in 2014 to receive UNRWA aids.
According to AGPS data, 559 Palestinian refugees, including women and minors, have died under torture in Syrian state jails.
