The Turkish coast guard rescued on December 3 and 4 two Greece-bound inflatable boats carrying dozens of illegal migrants, mostly Africans and Palestinians. More than 50 women and children were onboard.
Turkey has served as a major launch-off point for migrants fleeing Syria, among other war-stricken zones, onboard “death boats” bound for Europe, as they rummaged around for a safe shelter. Dozens of Palestinians died at sea, trying to reach European destinations.
