Palestinian refugee Husam Hamid continues to call on the international human rights institutions to help him identify the condition and whereabouts of his child Hamza, who has been missing for three years after a Greece-bound migrant boat from Turkey capsized off the Aegean seashore on September 20, 2015.
Hamid’s family were forced out of Yarmouk Camp as a result of the deadly shelling rocking the area and sought shelter in Turkey, before they headed for Greece onboard an illegal migrant boat.
The father said at around 04:00 a.m., the vessel was crashed by a touristic ship. Taken aback by the accident, the father lost his child whom he was holding in his arms. 52 migrants who were onboard tossed themselves into the sea.
The father reportedly fell into a faint and was picked up by Greek coast guards. As soon as he recovered his consciousness, he was told by the coast guards and the Red Cross that his child has disappeared.
The child’s mother Na’ima was shocked as soon as she received the news. Yet, she did not lose hope as a relative told her that her child was spotted in a TV report.
Husam reached Germany after years of dislocation. His journey on the lookout for his missing child has not ended yet.
