Palestinians from Syria in Turkey Rail Against Dire Conditions

Displaced Palestinian refugees from Syria taking shelter in the Turkish city of Sakarya appealed to the national and international human rights institutions, the Palestine Liberation Organization, and the Palestine Embassy to take urgent action regarding the abject living conditions they have been enduring.

Some 35 families told AGPS that they have been struggling for survival in the area due to the price leap, lack of access to the local labor market, and absence of relief assistance by UNRWA and the UNHCR.

A Palestinian refugee spoke out against the precarious legal status the Palestinians continue to face as the Turkish authorities have denied them access to the kimlik visa.

Palestinians refugees fleeing war-torn Syria are treated as Syrian nationals in Turkey. However, the Turkish authorities continue to prevent holders of the kimlik card from moving to another city before an official consent is issued by the concerned authorities to that end.
