Refugee Tents in Deir Ballout Swamped with Water following River Flood

Displaced families in the Muhammadiya and Deir Ballout refugee camps in northern Syria have raised concerns about the upshots of the flooding of the Afrin river in the wake of heavy rains.

High water levels last week cut off the road between the two camps and nearby zones. Refugee tents are also at a risk of being flooded by water. Children’s toys were washed away by the rain.

Sometime earlier, UNICEF warned that harsh winter conditions have had tragic fallouts on refugee children.

For many displaced Palestinian refugees, the perils of winter weather add to the torment already experienced through conflict.

Nearly 600 displaced families, among them 325 Palestinian families, have been struggling for survival in the poorly-equipped Deir Ballout Camp, after they were forced out of Yarmouk and southern Damascus towns.
