Palestinian Refugee Dies as Greece-Bound Boat Capsizes

Activists said a boat packed with 80 migrants struck rocks and exploded before it capsized off the Greek island of Farmakonisi.

All the migrants got stuck among the rocks before they were rescued by the Greek coast guards. The body of a migrant who was pronounced dead after he went missing was pulled from the island. The casualty was identified as Husam Abu Sido, from the besieged Gaza Strip.

The survivors were taken to nearby shelters and provided with healthcare and food.

Turkey and Greece have served as major launch-off points for migrants fleeing Syria, among other war-stricken zones, onboard “death boats” bound for Europe, as they rummaged around for a safe shelter.

AGPS kept record of the death of 51 Palestinians at sea, trying to reach European destinations.
