Reporting from Deir Ballout Camp, an AGPS news reporter said the main access roads to Deir Ballout and AlMuhammadiya refugee camps, north of Syria, have been closed off.
On Sunday, the Tahrir AlSham Commission (formerly known as AlNusra Front) abruptly sealed off the road leading to Atama, blocking civilians’ access out of and into the area.
The Jindires thoroughfare, in Afrin, has also been closed off following a bridge collapse and a river flood rocking the region as a result of the torrential downpours.
Displaced families sheltered in the area have launched distress signals and appealed to the concerned institutions to urgently step in in order to help them secure food and medicines, among other life-saving items.
Over recent days, tension has been running high in Deir Ballout and AlMuhammadiya refugee camps following clashes between Tahrir AlSham and the National Front for Liberation. Similar clashes that broke out on January 3, 2019 took away the life a displaced refugee and left others, including six children, wounded.
Nearly 600 displaced families, among them 325 Palestinian families, have been struggling for survival in the poorly-equipped Deir Ballout Camp, after they were forced out of Yarmouk Camp and southern Damascus towns.
