The Palestine Liberation Army (PLA) announced the end of its armed mission in AlSuweida Desert, south of Syria, where it has fought alongside the Syrian government forces against ISIS militias.
According to AGPS data, 33 PLA fighters were killed in deadly shootouts in AlSweida desert. Walid Mer’i AlKurdi, the commander of Saeka 412 Brigade, along with officers Abdul Karim Melhem Ali and Ammar Issa were killed on September 25 while fighting alongside the Syrian government forces near Taloul AlSafa.
Nearly 6,000 fighters are enlisted at the PLA, 3,000 among whom have been directly involved in battles waged across over 16 flashpoints in Syria.
AGPS documented the death of 276 Palestinian refugees as they fought alongside the PLA affiliated with the Syrian government, in war-torn Syria.
Scores of Palestinian youths have been forced to join the PLA. Those who refuse forced conscription are often subjected to manhunt and imprisonment. Thousands of young men have fled the country, in the hunt for a safer shelter.
