The Turkish Immigration Department issued on Friday a decision outlawing the travel of migrants from Syria to Greek cities adjacent to northwestern Turkey.
The Turkey in Arabic news site quoted a private source as stating that the decision was issued by Turkish Immigration Department in Ankara.
The ban is to be put into effect until April 1, 2019. The concerned migrants are those taking shelter in Istanbul, Edirne, Tekirdag, Kirklareli, Çanakkale, Kocaeli, Bursa, Yalova, Balıkesir, Bilecik, and Sakarya.
The ban comes shortly after anonymous persons launched a so-called “Hope Convoy” campaign, seeking to reach European countries via Greece.
