Over 10,000 protesters from different nationalities took to Istanbul streets on Thursday, urging the Syrian authorities to immediately release all children and women held in jail.
A consortium of NGOs and human rights groups took part in the rally. Speakers at the event called on the warring actors in Syria and the incumbent authorities to immediately cease all forms of torture against women and children and to release all those held behind prison bars.
Human rights data indicate that over 7,000 women are held in Syrian penitentiaries. AGPS kept record of the detention of 110 women and girls in Syrian state prisons, where 35 others have also been tortured to death.
