Residents of Jaramana Camp for Palestinian refugees in Rif Dimashq continue to rail against poor sanitation networks and improper sewage disposal as a result of frequent blackouts and maintenance works in the area.
The displaced families warned of the life-threatening diseases wrought by poisonous rodents and unpleasant smells stemming from contaminated sewage poured near their refugee camp. Frequent power outage has added bad to worse.
The Social Development Committee in Jaramana paid a visit to AlTahrir neighborhood to keep tabs on the damage wrought by the sanitation network, which it said requires comprehensive maintenance.
A member of the committee said a budget has been alloted for repair works, in cooperation with the General Authority for Palestinian Arab refugees and UNRWA.
Over recent years, residents of Jaramana Camp have launched cries for help over the dire socio-economic conditions, high unemployment rates, poor infrastructure, steep rental fees, and chronic water crisis rocking the area.
