The AGPS monitoring and documentation team revealed that the number of victims from AlRaml camp in Latakia who had been killed since the beginning of the war in Syria, reached 53, including 36 tortured to death, 2 by sniper fire, 12 by gunfire, 2 kidnapped and later killed, and one died of a health crisis related to the general conditions.
Seven years have passed since the arrest of Dr. Hayel Kasem Hamid by Syrian security forces. On 13/08/2012, security members arrested him from his clinic in Yarmouk camp on a charge of treating people who were injured as a result of shelling on the camp. No information as to his fate or his location had been received since then.
Hamid is a Palestinian doctor. He was born in Dallata in 1948. He is a fellow of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of England and worked as a consultant of General Surgery, Laparoscopy and Surgical oncology in several British hospitals. In addition, he was a professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Damascus, and served as Head of the General Surgery Department at AlAsad Hospital.
