Representatives of the Follow-Up Committee of Palestinian Refugees from Syria in Gaza met on Wednesday, June 12, with the director of UNRWA operations in Gaza Matthias Schmale. Both parties discussed the situation of Palestinian refugees who returned to Gaza from war-torn Syria.
The UN envoy said the US cut of its funds to the refugee agency has had serious fallouts on UNRWA’s performance and relief services in Gaza, the West Bank, Syria, and Jordan.
Schmale said the agency will leave no stone unturned to retrieve its services for Palestinian refugees at such a critical moment in their history, vowing that UNRWA will reach out to donor countries to garner funds for shelter projects allocated to Palestinian refugees from Syria.
