3,987 Palestinian Refugees from Syria Pronounced Dead since 2011

AGPS has documented the death of 3,987 Palestinian refugees in Syria, including women and children, since 2011, as a result of war-related incidents.

According to AGPS data, 1,977 died until June 2019, up from 1,953 victims until June 2018.

Yarmouk Camp topped the list with 1,422 casualties, followed by 263 in Daraa Camp, 202 in Khan Eshieh Camp in Damascus countryside, 168 in Aleppo’s AlNeirab Camp, and 124 in AlHusainiya Camp.

188 Palestinians also died in unknown locations while hundreds of others were pronounced dead in refugee camps and communities across Syria.

AGPS found out that 1,212 refugees were killed under shelling; 1,077 were fatally gunned down, while 604 others were tortured to death in Assad regime detention centers.

311 refugees were, meanwhile, shot dead by snipers; 205 died of undernourishment and medical neglect in besieged zones; 142 were killed in blasts; 92 were extra-judicially executed by pro-government militias and 52 drowned onboard Europe-bound boats. Several others died of known and unknown causes.

Scores of Palestinian refugees have also been left wounded, including dozens who have undergone limb amputation or eye loss.
