Displaced Palestinian Families in Syria’s AlAkkad Neighborhood Sound Distress Signals

Palestinian families taking shelter in AlAkad neighborhood, in Khan Dannun Camp, said they have been denied their rights to vital facilities as the concerned authorities and UNRWA continue to consider their area an unrecognized zone.

A resident said authorities do not recognize the neighborhood as legal, which deepens their abject socio-economic condition.

He added that water and power have been cut off in the area and that civilians have been denied access to vital facilities.

Over recent years, residents of Khan Dannun refugee camp have been gripped with dire conditions due to the high rates of unemployment, absence of relief assistance, and lack of access to basic amenities.
