The Syrian security forces released the Palestinian refugee Mahmoud Hamid Awad, aged 55, after they kept him in custody for nearly one week.
Mahmoud, sheltered in AlMuzeireeb town, south of Syria, was arrested by Syrian security forces deployed at a checkpoint in Daraa on February 17. The motives behind the arrest have not been revealed.
At least 14 Palestinian refugees from Syria’s AlMuzeireeb community have been held in Syrian government detention centers, among a total of 1,787 Palestinian refugees secretly locked up in Syria’s state-run penal complexes.
