Residents of AlHusainiya Camp Lash Out at Syrian Authorities over Water Crisis

Residents of AlHusainiya Camp for Palestinian refugees, in Rif Dimashq, have lashed out at the local municipality for increasing the price of water tanks of 1000 liters to 3,500 Syrian pounds and 20 liters of potable water to 300 pounds.

The residents said the move overburdens even further the already cash-strapped families in the camp.

Owners of water tanks attributed the price increase to the soaring fuel prices. A liter of gasoline has hit 3,000 Syrian pounds and diesel 2,000 pounds.

Over recent years, residents of AlHusainiya camp have denounced the absence of vital services in the area.

The transportation crisis, price leap, absence of relief assistance and healthcare, power and water crises, and high rates of unemployment have made survival quite difficult for dozens of displaced Palestinian families.
