The conference was held yesterday in New York City, highlighting the suffering of Palestinian refugees in Syria, in the Yarmouk refugee camp, and other Palestinian forgotten camps, which were subjected by bombing, destruction, siege, and full absence of services. "Shihabi" talked about his experience and the experience of thousands of Palestinian refugees who were forced to ride the boats of death and risk their lives and the lives of their children, because of what they suffer in Syria of a tragic situation because of the continued conflict there in search of safety, security, and a decent life in European countries.
At the conclusion of his speech, Mr. Shihabi demanded the international community to work on advocacy of Palestinian refugees and their protection and relief, stressing that the plight of the Palestinian people in Syria are not the first of the Palestinian people who have been displaced and expelled from their homeland by the rape of the Zionist occupation, which previously affected all Palestinians in Lebanon, Iraq, and Kuwait.
He also demanded United Nations, international organizations, and human rights organizations to find a justice and comprehensive solution for the Palestinian refugee issue through the application of international resolutions issued by the United Nations including resolution 194 that states the return of Palestinian refugees to their homes.
It is worth mentioning that Mr. "Shihabi" was supposed to deliver his speech during the opening session of the conference in the presence of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, "Ban Ki-moon," and official delegations, but it has been postponed for the evening session, for unknown reasons.
