Palestinian Poet Receives Euro-Asian Gold Medal of Honor

The General Union of Palestinian Writers in Syria held a ceremony on Friday to honor the Palestinian poet Abdullah Issa after he was awarded the Gold Eurasian Medal of Honor.

The Eurasian Medal is awarded for the first time in history by the international forum "21st Century Eurasia World" in the field of literature. Hundreds of writers were nominated for the award.

Abdullah Issa was born on January 15, 1964 in Babilla, near Yarmouk camp, Damascus, Syria. He is a poet, filmmaker, academic and diplomat. He masters many languages and has translated hundreds of texts from/into Arabic/Russian. He has won dozens of Arab and foreign awards. He studied at the Maxim Gorky Institute of Literature and defended his thesis about modern Arabic poetry at the Institute of Asian and African Countries. He published several collections of poetry and research books.
