UNRWA staff workers have staged vigils at a number of UNRWA schools in Syria as they spoke up against the infringement of their rights and salary cuts.
UNRWA teachers lifted banners condemning the Agency’s salary lowering policy and calling timely delivery of their monthly wage.
Unions of UNRWA staff workers have called for a two-hour vigil on Wednesday, November 24, outside of UNRWA offices ahead of an open-ended strike.
The unions continue to call on the Agency to cancel unpaid exceptional leaves and to retroactively resume annual bonuses suspended since March.
They further urged UNRWA to create labor opportunities, recruit more Palestinian refugees, end temporary-work and day labor policy, pay November and December salaries, and implement the decisions of the Beirut Conference.
