The General Union of Palestinian Communities in Europe has established an ad hoc committee tasked with following up on the situation of Palestinians stranded on the borders between Belarus and Poland.
The move saw the day in coordination with the Palestinian community in Belarus and Poland.
The General Union called on the governments of Poland and Belarus to take urgent action regarding the crisis on the border and to provide shelter to the migrants who have been left in freezing temperatures.
Hundreds of people from places like Iraq, Afghanistan and Africa have been trying to cross the border illegally every day
Poland has declared a state of emergency in the region and plans to build a wall on the border.
The Polish parliament has also passed legislation that human rights advocates say aims to legalise pushbacks of migrants across its borders in breach of the country’s commitments under international law.
