Palestinian refugee Ibrahim AlMadani sustained moderate wounds after he was hit by shrapnel in his head.
Ibrahim was injured on Thursday, April 14, as he left a LibanPost office south of Beirut.
Local sources said two young men opened fire at random at civilians passing through the area. Ibrahim fell into a coma and was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment. Medics removed the shrapnel from his head and neck.
Similar attacks have targeted Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, some of them with deadly consequences. On June 20, 2015, Palestinian child Muneer Hzeineh, displaced from Syria to Lebanon, died of wounds he sustained in gunfire unleashed in a funeral procession.
On June 12, 2018, young man Raed Suweid, from Yarmouk Camp, also died of wounds he sustained in Burj Albarejneh refugee camp, in Beirut. At the same time, Wissan Mohsen, aged 36 and displaced from Yarmouk Camp, was accidently killed by gunshots on August 24, 2021 in Ein AlHilweh refugee camp.
