Palestinian activists and CSOs launched an e-petition condemning a meeting between the Union of Palestinian Diaspora in Europe and Syria’s President Bashar AlAssad.
The petition says the meeting amounts to an attempt to whitewash the crimes committed by the Syrian regime against Palestinian refugees and Syrians alike.
The signatories slammed the Union for failing to reach out to Palestinians of Syria and taking into consideration their demands and viewpoints in this regard.
A few days earlier, the Union of Palestinian Diaspora in Europe met with Syrian president in an event marking the 74th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba, the day on which tens of thousands of civilians were forced out of their homes during the war that led to the creation of the self-proclaimed State of Israel in 1948.
