UNRWA Holds Training Courses for 9th Graders

Tutorials have been held by UNRWA for 9th graders who are about to sit for the national exams starting May 29.

The courses are held between May 8-19.

In the 2021/2022  school year, in Syria, UNRWA provided basic education from grades 1-9 to approximately 50,001 Palestine refugee students in 102 UNRWA schools located in Damascus, Rif Damascus, Aleppo, Hama, Homs, Latakia and Dera’a.

Young Palestine refugees have been especially vulnerable to the effects of the conflict in Syria as the majority of UNRWA schools are located within the Palestine refugee camps themselves.  Schools have suffered from the conflict and many have been closed.

Last year, 89.9% of the 4,535 Palestine refugee students registered with the Agency in Syria passed their national 9th grade exams while other schools in the war-torn country got a success rate of 76.23%.
