Palestinian refugee student Shadi Hamdan obtained a score of 4,00/4,08 as part of his computer engineering studies at Koç University, in the cosmopolitan and vibrant city of Istanbul.
A Turkish journalist said in a tweet that the score is the highest ever achieved by a non-Turkish national at the university.
In his graduation speech Shadi said: “Five years ago I was in a completely different place. At the beginning of my academic career at Koç University, I was both excited and anxious in the face of a new culture and a new environment. But I made it thanks to my new friends who have always been there for me”.
Hundreds of displaced Palestinian refugees in/from Syria have achieved success stories, despite the traumatic upshots wrought by the daily scenes of bloodshed and destruction across the embattled Syrian territories.
