Palestinian Refugee in Syria Dies on Wedding Day

A Palestinian bride-to-be was pronounced dead hours before his wedding day.

Tareq Younes Abu Hamdah, born in 1998, died on Saturday, January 07, of a sudden health setback. He breathed his last at a hospital in Deraa.

Tareq worked as a volunteer at the Family Planning Association’s youth centre.

Sudden deaths have increasingly been reported among Palestinian refugees in/from war-torn Syria due to the traumatic upshots of the warfare.

The conflict rocking the Syrian territories has forced Palestinian refugees, most notably children and the elderly, to endure terrible experiences and witness nightmarish scenes that far exceed one’s capacity to get to grips with them.

With scenes of destruction, bloodshed, displacement, and death occurring around the clock, elderly Palestinian refugees have gone traumatized.

The protracted conflict has devastated human security and left 91 per cent of the 438,000 Palestine refugees estimated to remain in the country in absolute poverty and 40 per cent displaced.
