Syrian Security Services Continue Arresting Palestinian Medical Cadres in Charges of Helping Injuries

Syrian security forces continue to arrest a group of Palestinian medical staff and keep reticent about their fate, as a number of them died due to torture in its jails under the pretext of providing medical and humanitarian work for the people of the camp and the wounded from neighboring areas.

 The Action Group for Palestinians of Syria documented earlier the arrest of each of:

Doctor Hayel Qasim Hameid, 67 years, a doctor in general surgery, and a professor at the Faculty of Human Medicine at the University of Damascus, served as general surgery department at al-Assad University Hospital, and he was arrested by the Syrian regime forces after a raid on his clinic in the Yarmouk refugee camp on 08/13/2012charges of treating wounded people.

Doctor Aladdin Yousef, 62 years, a neurological surgery doctor at Yarmouk camp and was arrested from a checkpoint at the entrance of Yarmouk camp on 12/25/2012.

In addition to the doctor, Malik Mohammad Yousef, a graduate of Dentistry, Surgery Master "fourth year" and was arrested by the Syrian regime forces from Damascus University - Faculty of Dentistry on 23.05.2013.

The medical staff and institutions in the Yarmouk refugee camp were exposed to serious violations by the Syrian army and security, bombing of hospitals and targeting of ambulances sometimes, and arresting and killing medical staff at other times.

These violations have claimed the lives of dozens of paramedics, nurses, and specialists, while the Syrian security services refuse revealing the fate of the detained Palestinians and their numbers in its jails,

The AGPS documented 922 detainees including 406 have died due to torture in Syrian prisons.
