A Palestinian Doctor Tells his Testimony during his Detention in the Syrian Regime

The Detainees and Missing Documentation Center in Syria published the testimony of the Palestinian Doctor Ahmed Al Reqeb, from Gaza Strip, who was released by the Syrian Regime.

Al Reqeb explained about the severe torture in the departments of the Syrian security during his detention that lasts for five months. Al Reqeb described that he was exposed to the most severe torture at Al Madahma department 2015, where he was being held in an isolation cell that was completely dark before a week of investigation.

 He was surrounded by two jailers who were competing to ground out as much cigarettes in his back; they were also torturing him with electric shock in the most sensitive places in his body.

Dr. Al Reqeb explained about food entry to the isolation cell, he said: "They entered the food from a window, where the jailer thrown the bulgur meal from the window and I catch in my hands what I can get and the rest of food fall into the toilet”.

Dr. Al Reqeb added” we were obliged to eat from that food to stay alive and because it was the only meal we get in the whole day”.

He also mentioned that he lost about 25 kg due to the malnutrition, as he mentioned people who dies in the isolation room in the prison saying: "A corner was set to the prisoners who are almost dyeing due to the torture till they die, then they carry their dead bodied out of the room and bring other live prisoners and put them in the same corner as a punishment, while some other prisoners died due to contagious diseases”.

He also insured that the Palestinian Prisoners receive doubled torture because they are Palestinians regardless their charges, the doctor also mentioned the names of  some Palestinian prisoners who were with him in same period such as Ahmed Abu Lous Palestinian Iraqi, Al Sheikh Mohammed Palestinian Jordanian, Yasser Soliman from Yarmouk camp, Ahmed Motor from Yarmouk camp, the old man Abu Zeyad Palestinian Syrian from Duma, who was expected died due to torture, a young man from Rankous in his twenties, who was arrested after being injured in his leg and died due to torture, the Palestinian child Mohammed ten years, who was arrested in charges of making explosions.

In addition, there were other Iraqi people and a number of people holding Egyptian documents, as they were exposed to severe torture at Al Madahma security department No.2015, which is considered one of the most savage departments.

 He continued that the Egyptian documents holders were facing terrorism support and illegal entry charges and it is noted that they were born in Syria and live in Syria.

 The Palestinian Doctor Ahmed Al Reqeb was arrested on 18/August/ 2012; the Syrian Security accused him of many charges such as working in a field hospital, making a conspiracy with foreign sides to organize a coup, and getting a salary from Zionism to support terrorism in Syria.

It is referred that he is from the Gaza Strip and he moved to Syria to pursue his studies in Medicine, and then he worked in one of the hospitals at Al Tal Area in Damascus Suburb.
