A Palestinian Family Detained in Ataturk Airport for 11 Days Appeals For Help

Team of "Violations against Palestinian refugees around the world" said that a PRS family of four inpiduals is detained in Ataturk Turkish airport for 11 days so far, the team said, the family appeals to the PA Embassy in Turkey and to Hamas Movement as well as to the General Authority for refugees to intervene and mediate in order to release them and grant them freedom of movement just like all other refugees fleeing the conflict in Syria.

The family said it has arrived Ataturk Airport in Istanbul Turkey coming from Brazil, which was the previous destination in an attempt to search for a decent life. The family added "we were surprised in the Turkish airport to be stopped and detained in such humiliating conditions where we receive frequent threats of deporting to Syria”.

It is noteworthy that another PRS "Basil Azzam" was also arrested recently at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul because of not having the visa imposed on the Palestinian refugees, including those fleeing the war.

After four months of detention at the airport, amid fears of a re-deporting him to Syria or Lebanon which poses a direct threat to his life, "Azzam" announced launching hunger strike, protesting against detention and demanding to allow him to enter Turkey, and to be treated according to international laws and norms with respect to Refugees fleeing conflict zones.
