The AGPS received a number of complains about the cruel treatment they receive while entering the Lebanese territories, especially those who have family reunion appointment with the European embassy.
According to the complains, members of the Lebanese General Security at Al Masnaa border area, delay the entry of the Palestinian Syrian refugees into Lebanon, as they ask them for incapacitating requests and an hotel reservation aiming to delay the embassy appointment.
The Palestinian refugee, Tasneem, said to the AGPS that she, and many other Syrian refugees, were cursed and insulted and were not allowed to enter under false pretenses, such as changing the shift of the charged officer.
No one take into account having children with her, and she said that she waited for hours at the border to no avail; the matter related to temperament of the officer in charge. She did not obtain approval though she has interview date in European embassy in Beirut. The refugee returned back to Syria despite the many risks that were threatened her during the return at night and high costs incurred to reach the border point, according to her.
Due to the closure of all European embassies in Damascus, all transactions for Syrians and Palestinian Syrians require traveling to a neighboring country, mostly in Lebanon, and in spite of that the family entered Lebanon for a pure procedural aim and they have a proof, and there is no intention at all to stay there, border authorities have banned all family members from entering.
It is noteworthy that these cases represent a documented part of many not documented cases; every family has a different story of suffering, all based on the Syrian war. That puts the majority of cases in a legal context that requires all concerned governments to deal with them so as to ensure protection and care, especially the European countries and their embassies in Lebanon, which gives dates to Palestinian families for interviews. Activists accused the government of being ignorant and silent, with the assurance that all embassies of those countries having information and details of what is happening with the Palestinian and Syrian families on the Lebanese-Syrian border.
