Delay of Asylum and Tighten Reunion Procedures Force Many Palestinian Syrian Families to Leave Europe and Return to Syria

A number of Palestinian families and young people who have migrated to Europe returned back recently to Nairab camp in Aleppo, where the AGPS monitored the return of a number of Palestinian Syrian families and young people to Neirab for various reasons.

After they left Syria to escape the war and risked themselves to gain access to Europe they were shocked by obstacles were not taken into account. They mainly suffered of the procedural side, especially with regard to transactions of asylum and family reunion. Refuge procedures may take more than a year and a half in some countries like Sweden and some other Scandinavian countries.

In addition, they suffer of housing problems, adapt, and learning the language, while minors who have reached (18 years, who are waiting for their residency, were deprived of their right to reunification with families, prompting many of them to return to Syria, despite the risks they may face.

It is noteworthy that multiple sources confirmed to the AGPS that some of the "Palestinian authorities" loyal to the Syrian regime exploited a number of Palestinian Syrian youths in Europe in order to fight among the ranks of the committees and groups in Syria in exchange for the settlement of their security situation and to help them return to Syria.
