Ezat Al Rasheq, member of the political office of Hamas, condemned the shelling of Khan Al Shieh camp with rockets, confirming that targeting the camp is not acceptable and condemnable, exposing the residents to ongoing siege which deepen their humanitarian tragedy.
Al Rasheq called to immediately stop bombing of Khan Al Shieh camp, targeting its residents, lifting the siege, and to neutralize the Palestinian camps from the furnace of the conflict in Syria.
Khan Al Shieh camp in the western Ghouta of the capital Damascus is considered one of the largest Palestinian refugee compounds in the Syrian territories. The camp and its surroundings have been targeted with the Syrian regime explosive barrels almost daily, which results in deaths and wounded among civilian residents and displaced people.
The camp's population is estimated with about 12 thousand people , as well as hundreds of displaced people who fled from the towns and cities of western Ghouta, such Maadameyat al-Sham, and Daria due to the deteriorating security conditions.
The Syrian regime continues to target the Palestinian refugee camps scattered along the Syrian lands from the south to the north with warplanes, tanks, rockets, explosive barrels, and mortar shells. The shelling led to massive destruction of properties and houses, in addition to the killing of more than 3274 victims among the Palestinian refugees, and thousands of injuries, according to the AGPS statistics.
