Thousands of refugees were forced to flee their camps and resort either to nearby towns and areas or to migrate to the outside Syria. Most displaced people, except who arrived to Europe, are suffering of the economic problems, which are concentrated on the high rents of houses.
Rents of houses in some places in Damascus and its suburb may reach approximately ($ 150) a month, while the monthly income of the employee does not exceed $ 100 at best.
Rents of homes in Lebanon and Turkey may reach to around ($ 400), where such amounts constitute a very heavy burden of the refugees, who mostly lost their business or job because of the war, in addition to the long period of time that forced the refugees to spend all money they saved previously.
"Sigrid Kaag," Special Coordinator for the United Nations in Lebanon, expressed concern about the difficult living conditions of the Palestinian Syrian refugees in Lebanon as a result of the ongoing civil war in Syria. Kaag also stressed, during a press conference held on Friday July 8, 2016 in New York that 17% of those refugees are now living below the poverty line.
Around 42,500 displaced Palestinians of Syria are living in Lebanon under tragic living conditions because the high cost of living and widespread of unemployment, after they were prevented from working due to reasons relating to access to the residence, and the settlement of their legal status in Lebanon. UNRWA paid $ 100 intermittently as shelter allowances for displaced Palestinian Syrian families under the pretext of lack of funding, rather than the failure of donor countries to provide aid. UNRWA also reduced the amount of food aid from 45,000 Lebanese pounds to 40,000LP.
