News about Withdrawal of Nusra from the Besieged Yarmouk Camp

In the south of the capital Damascus, news from the besieged Yarmouk camp reported that a military source of Nusra confirmed that the negotiation process with the Syrian Regime, regarding the withdrawal of Nusra from the camp, is in its final phases.

The resource added that, during the past two days, Nusra delivered the names of its members who are wishing to withdraw from Yarmouk, and it prepared the injuries, including the serious injuries, to be evacuated. Details of withdrawal, the way of leaving, and the road that they will go through towards Idlib city are still unknown.

It is worth mentioning that the negotiations conducted by the Syrian regime with Nusra is not the first one, where negotiations conducted previously between the regime and ISIS sponsored by the UN, as it was scheduled to withdraw its members from the south of Damascus toward Al Riqqa, stronghold of ISIS, but the negotiations failed.

On the other hand, news from the Yarmouk refugee camp confirmed that ISIS released the wife of a leader of "Aknaf Bait Almaqdes" after being arrested in front of a checkpoint. The wife was released after "Aknaf Bait Almaqdes" released two women from ISIS, who were arrested in response to ISIS arrest of the leader's wife.

During the past three months, ISIS launched violent attacks against Nusra, which led to the decline of Nusra strongholds, while its fighters withdraw from Ja'una area that is located in the north-east of the camp toward Rijh Square, about 15 days ago.

The regular army, the GC groups, and the pro-regime Palestinian groups continue to besiege the Yarmouk camp for more than 1120 consecutive days. Power is cut for more than 1181 days and water is cut for 670 days respectively, which impacted negatively on residents. Food and medical materials are prevented to enter the camp, as well as residents are prevented form enter or exit the camp through the main entrances that are controlled by Syrian security and pro-regime Palestinian groups.

Besides the suffering of the Palestinian refugees, in addition to the continuous displacement for more than 4 years, many obstacles faced by the refugees, especially with regards to the economic and living conditions. Statistics indicate that more than two third of the Palestinian refugees were displaced from their houses due to shelling and ongoing clashes, such as in Hadnarat camp in Aleppo. Some other refugees were displaced due to strict siege imposed on their camp such as the Yarmouk camp in Damascus, or due to evacuation and besieging of camps such as Sbeina camp in Damascus suburb.
