"Detainees' Trade" An additional Way to Blackmail Families of Palestinian Detainees in the Prisons of the Syrian Regime

Published : 23-07-2016

"Detainees

The so-called " detainees dealers " who are often  officers and security officials in the Syrian security branches or close to them are extorting families of detainees in exchange for some information about them and their situation.

The price of information differs from "dealer" to another, where the price of the information may reaches ($ 2,000) in some cases.

Some of the officials, who were described by detainees' families as "VIP," are paid sums of money up to ($ 10,000) for the release of some detainees.

The families added to the AGPS that most of those who are doing such business are "frauds" that take money and provide false information about the detainees, or disagree with the families and stop communicating with them after taking money.
