Palestinian-Syrian refugee Assem Hussam Al-Deen Taleb stood atop the medal podium at the Swedish Karate Championship after he delivered a gold-medal performance in the finals. Assem, who captured the gold medal for the fourth time running in the same competition, fled to Sweden with his family a couple of years ago as warfare flared up in Syria.
