Pro-regime militias launch abduction sweep in Al-Sayida Zeinab Camp

AGPS correspondent in Damascus Suburbs said Shiite militias allied with the Syrian regime, escorted by Syrian security forces, launched a mass abduction sweep in Al-Sayida Zeinab Camp for Palestinian refugees in Damascus outskirts. The campaign culminated in the abduction of at least 15 Palestinian refugees.

AGPS reporter said the captives’ names should not be made public for fear of retaliation. The reasons for the abductions remain unknown. Syrian regime troops claimed that the campaign targeted drug users while locals confirmed that the newly captured refugees do not use drags. A refugee with mental disorders was reportedly among the detained batch.

AGPS reporter said the campaign has not been the only one of its kind as Shiite gangs allied with the Syrian regime have often targeted civilian refugees in the camp using live ammunition at times. The situation has gone from bad to worse after PFLP General Command and Fatah Al-Intifada have taken the regime’s side.
