Ex-detainee confirms death of Palestinian refugee due to torture in Syrian lock-ups

AGPS reporters quoted an ex-detainee released from 235 Palestine Branch prison as stating that he had met the Palestinian refugee Rami al-Sahli before and after his death in jail in May 2014.

The newly-released detainee said al-Sahli died of a stroke he caught due to the dire detention circumstances in Syrian penitentiaries.

Affidavits released by ex-detainees testified to the incarceration of children, women, and elderly refugees in Syrian government lock-ups.

AGPS documented the death of 1,129 Palestinian refugees in Syrian prison, among whom 80 female refugees who have had an unknown fate. Meanwhile, 454 refugees were tortured to death in those penal complexes.
