Residents of Al-Husseiniya Camp sound distress signals over water, power crises

Residents of Al-Husseiniya Camp in Damascus Suburbs have launched cries for help over the frequent power outages and long hours of rationing. As a result of the severe power shortage, supplies from water reservoirs have also been frequently turned off.

The energy crisis, coupled with an acute shortage in fuel and heating kit due to the swift hike in prices and the decline in refugees’ purchasing power, has made the area uninhabitable.

The refugees’ frequent appeals for urgent intervention and maintenance works have gone unheeded. None of the promises made by Al-Husseiniya municipality and pro-government popular committees to secure water supplies have materialized on the ground.
