In 2016, 311 Palestinian refugees were killed in embattled Syria, 131 among whom by deadly gunfire shots and 71 others due to unabated shelling. Blasts took away the lives of 48 Palestinians while 26 others were tortured to death in Syrian security prisons. Sniper fire left 16 dead while the blockade and medical neglect claimed the lives of nine refugees, at the same time as another four Palestinians drowned on the migration road. Three Palestinians were also kidnapped and killed and two others were assassinated. One more refugee died of unknown reasons.
Rural Damascus topped the list of casualties with 149 Palestinians followed by Damascus with 34 and Aleppo with 33. 21 also died in Deraa, 11 in Deir Ezzor, five in al-Hasaka, four in Hums, three in Latakia, two in Al-Riqa, and two in Idlib. One more refugee died in Al-Quneitra and another three died in Lebanon. 43 Palestinians were, meanwhile, killed in unknown areas across Syria.
