Palestinian refugee in Germany rises to fame following rapid language acquisition, active engagement in linguistic tuition

Palestinian refugee in Germany Ibrahim Shehabi, a resident of Khan Al-Sheih Camp, has become a success story after he had rapidly learned the German language.

Shehab has not only managed to enhance his communicative knack in the asylum country but has also been actively engaged in language instruction projects aiming to enhance the refugees’ linguistic output in the western German town of Ratingen, in the district of Mettmann, in North Rhine-Westphalia.

“I learned the German language just one year and four months after I reached Germany,” said Ibrahim. “I have been involved in translating medical and government documents for the refugees.”

Ibrahim added that he has earned the respect and admiration of several German national, who have helped him further improve his communicative skills.

Ibrahim delivered a speech in which he lauded the German people and spoke up for the tragic situation in war-torn Syria.

German newspapers acclaimed Ibrahim’s dynamic involvement in language-instruction projects in Ratingen, where he met with the mayor, education stakeholders, and Diakonie’s chairman, in an attempt to smooth the refugees’ foreign language acquisition.

A sum of €2,500 was donated by the Düsseldorf airport administration in recognition of Ibrahim’s outstanding contribution and as part of underway attempts to appoint Arab teachers’ aides.
