Palestinian-Syrian Refugee Wins First Place at International Biology Olympiad in Germany

Palestinian-Syrian refugee Bahi Abu Hassan won a seat as Germany’s representative at the International Science Olympiads after he placed first at the International Biology Olympiad in Germany.

According to German news outlets, Abu Hassan fled Aleppo when he barely was 16-years-old in an attempt to pursue a promising academic career in Germany.

Earlier, Abu Hassan, a native of the occupied Palestinian village of Tarshiha, won the first place in scientific youth think-tanks in Germany.

27-year-old Palestinian-Syrian refugee Fuad Abu Sameer was the first to have joined German-based scientific think-tanks and has made a name for himself as an academic at the DESY national research center.
